OVERVIEW

ALB is pleased to present a two-part online workshop providing support and practical tips for all those called on to advise on the deployment of AI in their business. 

The masterclass will examine existing and developing approaches to AI regulation, ranging from the comprehensive risk-based approach adopted by the EU AI Act to the G7 AI Principles and governance frameworks such as Singapore’s AI Verify. 

Participants will also learn about the impact of data protection and privacy laws, including GDPR, China’s Data Security Law and PIPL and India’s DPDP Act. In addition, participants will explore practical issues such as intellectual property rights affecting training data and AI outputs, confidentiality and legal privilege, managing the risk of bias and discrimination and effective due diligence and supply chain risk management.

Malcolm Dowden

Malcolm Dowden is a member of the global privacy, cybersecurity and digital assets team at Pinsent Masons. He is also an Associate Lecturer and Visting Fellow in Technology and Cyber Law at the University of Winchester.

Malcolm has more than 30 years’ experience of advising government and commercial organisations on issues relating to technology, electronic communications, data protection and cybersecurity. Malcolm has, over the past decade, designed and delivered a number of successful ALB Masterclasses, including sessions on Blockchain, Distributed Ledger and Smart Contracts. His publications include the UK/EU Chapter in The Law of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Machines (American Bar Association, 2019) and recent projects include serving as UK contributor to an EU-funded study into AI contracting.

APPLICABILITY - These terms and conditions apply to the supply of conferences, workshops, events and exhibitions (the “Event”) by Thomson Reuters to delegates/attendees (“you”). 

ATTENDANCE - Each ticket is valid for 1 participant and login details are not allowed to be forwarded or distributed. Multiple users are encouraged to make use of the bulk ticket deals available at our website. Participants are not allowed to broadcast, stream, record or distribute the session. All participants are encouraged to turn their video cameras on during the class to increase interactivity with the instructor.

PAYMENT - Payment must be received by Thomson Reuters prior to attendance at the Event.

CANCELLATION - Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate/attendee is always welcome at no extra cost. Alternatively, provided you notify Thomson Reuters in writing (by letter, fax or email to julian.chiew@thomsonreuters.com) 14 full days before the Event, Thomson Reuters will refund your registration fee, less a 15% administration charge with a minimum administration fee of $50+gst.
Regrettably, no refunds will be made if less than 14 full days notice of cancellation is given. However if you cancel less than 14 full days before the Event, you may where applicable elect to receive presentation notes from the Event either electronically or in hardcopy.
Thomson Reuters reserves the right to change the date, venue and/or presenters of the Event at any time and without prior notice, and in any way deemed to be in the best interests of meeting the objectives of the Event. If Thomson Reuters cancels a workshop for any reason, your remedy is limited to a refund of the registration fee.   

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION - You are ultimately responsible for your own travel/accommodation bookings.  Should the Event be rescheduled or cancelled, no compensation for such bookings will be available.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY - Thomson Reuters will not accept any liability for damages or loss of property or valuables belonging to any delegate/attendee attending the Event.

By proceeding with the booking, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data, and your data will strictly be used for the purpose of processing your booking and any future communication related to event.
